Eleanor Louise Pauls

Eleanor Louise Pauls
July 27, 1945 – September 1, 2021

Eleanor Louise Pauls passed away at 2:50 pm on September 1, 2021, surrounded by her family.  She was born July 27, 1945, in Niagara, Ontario Canada the sixth child of John and Anna Wiebe.  Eleanor married Henry Pauls October 9, 1965, in Kelowna BC Canada.  Together they raised four children.  They were married almost 56 years.

She is survived by her devoted husband Henry, Daughters Kimberly Long, (spouse David), Jennifer Schultz, (spouse Christopher Schultz), Megan Pauls, Daughter in law, Leah Kirrane, (spouse Cameron Kirrane), grandchildren Kamryn, Addison, Tessa, and Samantha Schultz; Emma, and Ty Long; Kilian, Dylan, and Eden Pauls; Shepherd Eddens, (spouse Shenika), great grandchildren Bryson and Ryan Eddens.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her son Jason.

Eleanor was a consummate hostess providing amazing meals, playing games, and enjoying convulsive laughter.  Family times were always a highlight, with her warmth, and joyful spirit; she will be dearly missed.

Eleanor was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Her personal study, prayer, and desire to grow spiritually has left a significant legacy for her family.  Because of her faith she was able to endure all of life’s difficult times and all the losses. She loved praising the Lord through worship music. She sang with her family, choral groups in Bible College, worship teams at church.  She enjoyed producing dramas and skits, recruiting her church friends to take on roles only she could envision.  Sometimes people would try to hide when they saw she was on a mission to find reluctant actors—you know who you are.  Her heart was to honor the Lord with her whole life. She loved people, strangers became friends, treating everyone as family.

Eleanor loved to travel.  Memorable trips included cruises to the Baltic, Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Alaska; all through Sam’s Tours.  Trips to the UK, Eswatini, and fall foliage tours, were but a few of the many she enjoyed.  Eleanor loved the California coast.  She would often say, “I need a beach day.”

When asked how she made it through it all she would simply say “I handed it over to the Lord” and always trusted in him to get me through.
She wrote these words—
Lord, you are the light on my path.
You are my strength and my joy.
If this is all I had nothing can come to destroy.
Give me your strength for today
Let me not give in to decay
Knowing your love is the way
To sustain and keep me safe.

Sheryl Robledo I had the pleasure of calling Eleanor a friend for close to 20 years. The love she had for Christ was indisputable. To be in her presence was a delight. She was one of the most genuine, loving people I have ever experienced. I truely loved her. She was a perfect example of a Godly woman. She was a mentor to me and I will deeply miss her greeting me at the church doors telling how glad she was that I was there. This world is sorely lacking without her in it. I look forward to our reunion. I pray the Lord surround her family with comfort only he can provide.

Janet Enns I enjoyed Eleanor’s friendship during eleven years working together at MB Biblical Seminary. We both enjoyed laughter and did skits and pulled pranks together. We also shared prayer requests and supported one another. I know she will be greatly missed by her family because of her investment in and love for all of them.

Dennis Hammond I am blessed to have known Eleanor for nearly 20 years. From day one she impressed as someone with a sweet and gentle spirit. It was obvious that she had a strong desire to see the gospel message proclaimed. One of the things that I know Eleanor enjoyed doing was putting on special performances at Central Community Church in order to present the gospel in different ways. I was privileged to be able to work with her on several of those vignettes. She saw that through those performances there was an opportunity to share the message of God’s love and power. She will be missed but I look forward to seeing her again.

Fay Sherwood Eleanor and family became close and supportive friends when I began to rebuild my life in CA. Her friendship meant so much to me and the times of fun with your family and mine are forever held dear to my heart. I grieve with you all as you say goodbye here on earth knowing this is not the end. My prayers and love are with you now and the future. So sorry for this goodbye.

Laura Hayes My heart aches at the loss of Eleanor. The life, love, and faith of Eleanor was a great inspiration to all of us. We shared good memories, laughter, and joy, and now that she left us, we share your grief and pain at her passing. Her death is a great loss. I know that your faith is strong. Continue to cling to Him during this difficult time. God is with you now and always, and carries you in His everlasting arms. May God strengthen you Henry and your family! Please know that Robby & I are here for you always. This picture was from our women’s ministry team retreat we went to together. I remember how excited Eleanor was to buy this ring and get home to show Henry. Love and hugs to the Paul’s family. Laura Hayes ><>

Alex Rodriguez Esther and I always felt the love of Jesus whenever we spoke to Eleanor. She would make us feel as though her focus was on us and no one else! She was the perfect Pastor’s wife, she and Pastor Henry made such a perfect team leading CCC. Eleanor was so skilled at directing our church plays. I was never able to tell her no whenever she asked me to take on a role. We will sorely miss Eleanor but her spirit will forever be in our hearts. Alex and Esther Rodriguez
