Rosemary Johnson, 86, passed away on November 19, 2021, at her home in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by family. A longtime resident of Westborough, Massachusetts, she was a caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend.
Born and raised on Bell Island in Newfoundland, Canada, after finishing high school, Rosemary completed nursing training in Montreal before moving to Boston, Massachusetts to work as a registered nurse. There she met her husband, Byron Johnson, from Gibsland, Louisiana; they were married for 62 years. She leaves her husband and their children, Steve, Eric and his wife Michelle, daughter Anne, and son Mike, 2 grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan, 7 brothers and sisters, and extensive extended family.
A beautiful singer, skilled pianist and bridge player, Rosemary was always interested in expanding her knowledge and understanding of other cultures and new ideas. Her travels took her to North, Central, and South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Rosemary’s true passion was the sustainability of the planet. She started the St. Luke’s organic community supported garden in Westborough, MA, was the first president for the Crystal Springs organic farm board of directors, traveled to Guatemala several times as part of an international sister-city effort for global peacekeeping and sustainability, and actively participated in many groups for preventing war and sustaining the planet. She directed and produced her own community network television show and authored a book “Looking Beyond: Invitation to Understanding Global Sustainability”.
As per her wishes there will be no funeral service.
