Sherilyn O'Neal McMurray

January 13, 1952 - March 11, 2024

Mrs. Sherilyn McMurray, neé O’Neal, died in her home in Alameda, CA at the age of 72.
 
 Sheri is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bob, and her daughter, Meredith. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Howard O’Neal of Birmingham, AL and Mary Nell Riggs O’Neal of Tupelo, MS, and her sister, Karen O’Neal Stoddard.
 
 Sheri was born on January 13, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA. She graduated from Samford University with a degree in English in 1975. She began her career substitute teaching English and other subjects. She married Robert E. McMurray, Jr. in 1978 in Birmingham, Alabama. After moving to Berkeley, California, she began working for Bank of America as a teller. She left that profession after over 20 years to become a homemaker after her daughter was born.
 
 Sheri was a devout parishioner at St. Philip Neri, after converting to Catholicism as an adult in 2007. An active member of the SPN school community as well, Sheri was a volunteer and leader there for many years. She will be especially remembered for the time, dedication, and care she showed to every cause she supported.
 
 The funeral is scheduled for 2 pm on April 5th, 2024, at St. Philip Neri with a reception to follow at O’Brien Hall. Fr. Jojo Puthussery will be the celebrant. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sheri’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Doctors Without Borders in remembrance of Sheri . Condolences can be sent to the McMurray family at 3319 Washington Ct, Alameda, CA, 94501. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Continuum Hospice for making Sheri’s last days more comfortable, as well as the parishioners of St. Philip Neri - St. Albert the Great for their support at this time.
