Stephen (Steve) Anthony Buhr

April 25, 1962 - January 27, 2026

Stephen Anthony Buhr, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of January 27, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on April 25, 1962, in Los Angeles, California, Stephen (Steve) lived a life defined by integrity, kindness, dedication, and deep love for his family.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Donald Buhr, and his sister, Vicki Cordes. He is survived by his devoted mother, Eleanor Buhr; his loving wife, Lupe Buhr; his cherished daughter, Jasmine Buhr; and his adored sons, Garth and Raymond Nogalez. He is also survived by his siblings—Don, Teresa, David, Pam, and Eric—each of whom held a special place in his heart. Steve was deeply committed to keeping his family close and was known for encouraging gatherings and nurturing strong, lasting relationships.

Steve was first married to Kelli Adams in 1993, and in 1994 welcomed his daughter, Jasmine, who became the pride and joy of his life. A devoted, hands-on father, Steve could often be found tie-dyeing, playing volleyball, cheering proudly at gymnastics meets, or patiently allowing Jasmine to style his hair and paint his nails. He was present for every milestone and always looked on with unmistakable pride.

In 2010, Steve began his life with Lupe Zacarias, whom he married in 2015. After Jasmine left for college in 2012, Steve moved to San Diego to be with Lupe, beginning a chapter filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. They especially enjoyed trips to Mexico, relaxing by the pool, savoring good food and drink, going barefoot, visiting their cabin, barbecuing, and spending time with family. Steve became a deeply respected and beloved father figure in the lives of Lupe’s sons, supporting them wholeheartedly and loving them unconditionally as his own.

Steve was known for his beautiful golden hair, gentle demeanor, and compassionate heart. He was a thoughtful listener who offered guidance without judgment and kindness without hesitation. He loved sharing stories and discoveries and found deep joy in the simplest moments of life. Later in life, his faith grew strong, and his relationship with Jesus Christ became a source of strength, peace, and purpose.

Professionally, Steve dedicated 40 years to Bergelectric, beginning his career as an IT consultant and advancing to Vice President of Finance and ultimately Chief Financial Officer. Known for his leadership, generosity, and unwavering dedication, Steve was planning to retire on February 20, 2026, while continuing to serve as an active board member. He graduated from high school in 1980 from Crespi Carmelite and attended the University of California, Santa Barbara for 2 years thereafter.

Naturally talented, Steve excelled in many pursuits, including basketball, billiards, darts, juggling, swimming, and fixing things! He was deeply committed to charitable giving and consistently extended help to those in need, and in 2025, he established the Hope Haven Fund, embodying generosity in meaningful ways.

Above all, Steve will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to family, and the love he shared so freely. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
